January 20, 2025. Dallas Texas. American Airlines Arena. WWE Monday Night RAW. Pure Fusion Collective has been a torn in Damage CTRL’s side since July 8, 2024. Tensions between Damage CTRL and PFC heated to another level in December 2024 when Shayna Baszler, Sonya Deville and Zoey Stark brutalized Kairi Sane, putting her out of action. Dakota Kai and IYO SKY are not only out to avenge Kairi, they look to get back to winning ways after coming up short in the Women’s Intercontinental Championship Tournament.
Sonya Deville accompanied Baszler & Stark for the PFC’s tag team match against Kai & SKY. Kai started the match for her team, facing off against long time tormentor Shayna. Dakota got the better of the cocky Baszler until Stark nearly sniped Kai’s head off with her brutalizing springboard missile dropkick. Baszler and Stark took turns punishing Dakota. The crowd rallied Dakota into a comeback. The Captain of Team Kick struck Zoey with an enzuigiri then sent Shayna to the floor enroute to tagging in IYO.
IYO was a house of fire, unleashing an array of offense against Zoey. Shayna intervened and got tossed with a German suplex. Zoey thought she had turned the tide reversing IYO’s Irish whip only for SKY to dive through the ropes and take Shayna out with a tope. IYO took it to her former NXT partner with a springboard missile dropkick of her own followed by the bullet train running knees. IYO ascended for Over the Moonsault but Sonya climbed up on the apron for a distraction. Dakota put a stop to that, pulling Deville to the floor.
Shayna caught Kai by surprise with a clothesline, distracting SKY long enough for Zoey to pull her from the top rope to the canvas. Zoey pretzeled SKY with a package suplex but IYO kicked out of the pin attempt. Shayna tagged in. Stark crashed SKY with a rolling death valley driver. Shayna smashed SKY with a running knee followed by a cover. 1-2-Kai saved the match for her team with a double sledge to Shayna’s back. Zoey tossed Kai to the floor but missed a springing crossbody. Kai whacked Stark silly with a running PK from the apron, taking Zoey out of play.
Kai tried to reenter the ring only to feel Shayna’s all-too-familiar murder knee. Shayna applied the Kirifuta Clutch to SKY who maneuvered an escape by taking off running while still in the hold and slipping an escape through the ropes. IYO’s momentum sent Shayna throat first to the rope, toppling her in prone position for Over the Moonsault. SKY crashed down on Baszler, covering her for the three count and victory. Kai and SKY embraced to celebrate not only avenging their sister Kairi but a return to their winning ways.
Has Damage CTRL’s decisive win brought their war with PFC to a close? Time will tell. But regardless, Dakota has made it clear her quest for championship gold is far from over. This Chronicler agrees with that sign in the crowd that said Dakota Kai is a Main Eventer. The 2025 Women’s Royal Rumble Match is not far off. The King Kota Movement hopes Dakota Kai will declare her entry and compete for the opportunity to main event WrestleMania 41.
