In June 2016 Nixon Newell made her Shimmer debut against veteran Veda Scott. Veda attacked her from behind during the introductions, tossing her to the floor. But Nixon hung on, surprising Veda with a shotgun dropkick to the corner. Veda received two running back elbows in the corner and a leg trip. Nixon went for the Shiniest Wizard but Veda evaded. Veda took over folding Nixon in half with a cradle suplex followed by a one armed cattle mutilation submission hold. Nixon got to the rope to force the submission after Veda changed to another hold.

Newell ducked Veda's charge in the corner and struck her with an enziguri. Nixon connected with a crossbody from the top but only got a two on the cover. Veda took control back with a jawbreaker and capo kick. Nixon blocked a suplex attempt, taking over with a running big boot and neckbreaker. Veda tried a shining wizard of her own but Nixon ducked. Veda was stunned opening the door for Nixon to connect with the Shiniest Wizard. She dragged Veda to the center of the ring to make the cover only getting two.

Veda tripped Nixon up on the ropes to take control. She brought her down to the canvas with a snapmare driver. Nixon kicked out of the pin attempt. Veda got in a few strikes, which merely pissed Nixon off causing her to knock Veda silly with a crack-of-a-whip headbutt. Nixon set Veda up for the Welsh Destroyer, however Veda countered with a bridging Saito suplex to get a pinfall victory. Nixon didn't win the match, however she clearly won over the crowd.
