September 30, 2023. Bakersfield, California. Mechanics Bank Arena. NXT No Mercy. Tegan Nox sat in the crowd, enjoying NXT Women's Champion Becky Lynch successfully defend the title against Tiffany Stratton in a violent Extreme Rules Match. The Man sustained a laceration that required eleven stitches to close, resulting in her not being cleared to compete against Nox for the NXT Women's Championship on the October 2, 2023 episode of Monday of RAW.
October 2, 2023. San Jose, California. SAP Center. Monday Night RAW. One half of the WWE Women's Tag Team Champions Chelsea Green couldn't help but rub salt in the wound. That awful Karen even had the nerve to accuse Tegan of not being championship material. Since her schedule was open, Tegan suggested a match against Chelsea to see who really is championship material. WWE Official Adam Pearce declared the match a go, much to the chagrin of Green who pouted she was going to talk to management. She's clueless. Woo Woo Woo you know it!
Prior to the match, Becky Lynch was apologetic about the unfortunate circumstances but told Tegan she knows Nox would want to face her only when she's 100%. Nox agreed. Becky took her leave as Natalya arrived. Natalya admitted to Nox that she earned a new-found respect for her last week, is proud of her and knows she'll nail it when the NXT Women's Championship match takes place. So, that was quite... unexpected. Was Natalya actually being sincere?
Chelsea was accompanied to the ring by her tag team championship partner Piper Niven who had been a friendly rival to Nox prior to WWE. Green can be clueless but she has a mean streak in the ring, taking Nox down with a big boot at the opening bell. Niven "gave in" and gave Green a high five which was a boon to Nox for Chelsea turned right around into an inside cradle for two. Nox cut off Green's attempted offense with a rolling uppercut. Tegan was ready to end this, however Green evaded The Shiniest Wizard, rolling Nox over and into an upper palm slap.
Green was in a fatherly figure mood, setting Nox up for the Un-Pretty-Her but Tegan struck free with a headbutt that reeled both. Green bounced off the ropes back at Nox, striking her to the floor with a nasty superkick. Nox evaded a baseball slide, climbing back into the ring and charging for one of her own. Green got up to the apron, halting Nox. Tegan had none of that, slapping the hell out of Chelsea who toppled off the apron, into the safety of Piper's arms. Chelsea was put down only to fall to the floor courtesy of Nox's tumbleweed off the apron.
Tegan tossed Chelsea back into the ring before ascending to the top rope. Piper took her attention but that was short-lived because Natalya stormed to ringside to ward Niven off. The momentary distraction allowed Green to strike Nox in position for a superplex. But Nox fought her off, planting Chelsea from ropes to canvas with a gourdbuster. Molly-Go-Round from the top rope. The Shiniest Wizard. 1-2-3. Tegan not only reaffirmed she's championship material, but more importantly she had the pleasure of beating up a Karen.
Natalya raised Nox's hand and gave her a hug. There was a time when Tegan selflessly came to this woman's aid only to be tossed aside a couple weeks later. I'm hoping this time Natalya selflessly came to Tegan's aid with genuinely good intentions. Was there a hint of uncertainty on Tegan's face? Time will tell. In the meantime, Tegan Nox will get her NXT Women's Championship match against Becky Lynch on the October 9, 2023 episode of Monday Night RAW.
