The Scorching Pain

September 18, 2023. Monday Night RAW. Becky Lynch intended to defend her recently won NXT Women's Championship against someone who hasn't gotten many opportunities. An Oracle told me Becky wanted to and was prepared to face a Welsh Dragon who was just as ready. It was set in motion, all planned out. Sadly, those plans were changed. Hopefully someday soon it'll be The Welsh Dragon challenging The Man. Whatever the future holds, the present has brought The Dragon back to her WWE Main Event perch to battle an old adversary Xia Li.

September 21, 2023. Delta Center. Salt Lake City, Utah. WWE Main Event. Tegan Nox and Xia Li had a rivalry on SmackDown that saw a shiny outcome for The Welsh Dragon. Some years ago in NXT, Xia Li hardened her soul in a chamber of pain. Events of this year have hardened The Welsh Firecracker for this is not the same shiny girl that Xia battled in January. This time, Nox steps into the ring against Xia a fire breathing dragon with much harder scales.

Tegan came to the ring in her new gear, the nicer side of the dragon present as she slapped some talons. Yes, Tegan Nox's fans hands are talons cause we're little dragons. So... the opening bell rang. Nox and Li locked up, jockeying for position into the corner. Xia broke only after a tug of the hair. Nox called it out. Xia didn't take kindly to that, giving her a crude shove. Nox came at her, halted by a kick. Xia applied a headlock, trying to grind Tegan down. Nox countered by whipping Xia to the ropes. Xia came back at her, shoulder blocking her to the canvas.

Xia lifted Nox up by the hair only to get rolled up for two. Nox caught a kick and rolled Li up for another two. Xia got walloped with a nasty PK to the chest for two on the cover. Nox was frustrated but didn't waste time, hauling Li up for the gourdbuster. Xia slipped off and clipped Nox at the left knee with a chop block. A running knee flush to the jaw sent Nox to the apron. Xia charged at Tegan once more, striking her hard to the floor. The chop block and crash to the outside had Nox favoring her previously injured left knee.

As you would expect, Xia went to work on Nox's knee with an onslaught of painful offense to wear it down for a half crab. Tegan fought as hard as she could to reach the ropes to force a break. So close yet so far and even farther when Xia pulled back to the middle of the ring. Xia decided to break the hold and go for a legdrop. Nox moved out of the way and fought through the awful pain, delivering a running uppercut and sitout gourdbuster. Unable to get a victory, Nox continued her offense with a charging uppercut and cannonboar to a cornered Xia.

Tegan pulled the kneepad down and charged the prone Xia intent on hitting The Shiniest Wizard. But Xia evaded it, pushing Nox to the canvas. An exploder suplex nearly gave Xia the victory, however Nox resiliently kicked out. Xia charged forward with the cyclone kick but Nox ducked, rolling Xia over and striking her done with The Shiniest Wizard to score the pinfall victory. Both the dragon and her hunter had felt scorching pain. But in the end, this grueling battle that took its toll on Tegan rewarded her with a much-needed victory.
