April 1, 2024. Brooklyn, New York. Barclays Center. WrestleMania RAW. Dakota Kai and WWE Women's Tag Team Champions Asuka & Kairi Sane of Damage CTRL considered Tegan Nox, Shayna Baszler and Zoey Stark a breeze-of-a-warm-up for their trios match against Bianca Belair, Naomi and Jade Cargill at WrestleMania XL Saturday. Nox, Baszler and Stark were not part of the WrestleMania XL card so for them, this trios match against rivals from their past was going to be their WrestleMania Week Moment. And they made it count.

In recent memory, Nox and her regular tag team partner Natalya had faced off against Stark and Baszler in a couple tag matches. But years ago in Stardom, Nox (as Nixon Newell) and Baszler had in fact teamed up as part a trio with Kay Lee Ray, facing a trio that included Kairi. Days later, after Nixon’s singles match against Kairi, The Pirate Princess told Nixon she saw big things in her future. How correct Kairi was.

This new trio of Nox, Baszler and Stark jelled wonderfully showcasing an array of teamwork, proving to be a tough roadblock for Damage CTRL just days before WrestleMania XL. Damage CTRL would come out victorious but not without some battle scars to ice up.

In the week prior to and weeks following WrestleMania XL, Natalya would shift her focus from Tegan Nox to NXT. Natalya would return to Nox's side during the April UK Tour, picking up three tag team victories against Shayna Baszler & Zoey Stark. Nox even scored a triple threat match win against Zoey Stark and Piper Niven. But the looming questions surrounding the partnership between Nox and Natalya that hit a milestone on the March 4, 2024 Monday Night RAW were yet to be answered. And would not be, because the 2024 WWE Draft split up Nox and Natalya. Tegan returned to SmackDown for a third tenure on the blue brand while Natalya remained on Monday Night RAW.

Nox’s return to SmackDown would see her compete in a few dark matches but never on the televised show. The Welsh Dragon’s second WWE run would come to an end on November 1, 2024 when she was released from her WWE contract. It was fitting her final televised match had been her teaming with and facing women who were all importantly bonded to her during her eight year WWE run. Even prior to it with Kairi and Shayna. That trios match on April 1, 2024 was a full circle moment in so many ways.

It’s been quite a two-year return journey for Tegan. Eight years total under the WWE banner. Now, the world waits for The Welsh Dragon to wake from a short slumber. On said day, so will begin The Second Coming of Nixon Newell.

Davenport (as Bea Priestley) had previously battled Nox (as Nixon Newell) a bunch of times during their indie wrestling days.
